DEVOLUTION CONFERENCE 2025 THEMATIC WEEK IN HOMABAY COUNTY.
H.E. the President of the Republic of Kenya, Dr. William S. Ruto, officially opened the 9th edition of the DevCon 2025. The conference attracted over 12,000 delegates from all 47 Counties. This year's theme is dubbed, "For People, For Prosperity: Devolution as a Catalyst for Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice."
In his remarks, Dr. Ruto reaffirmed the Council of Governors' commitment to strengthening expertise and delivering meaningful services to the Counties. He also encourages the Council of Governors to leverage technology for optimal service delivery and eliminate corruption. He went ahead to stress that Counties should invest in people-first programs and services close to the people.
The Hustler Fund participated in the 9th Edition of the Devolution Conference with an informative and interactive stand. The Fund's mandate aligns with the theme of fostering financial inclusion by funding MSMEs. The stand showcased the Fund’s progress in enhancing financial access for people at the bottom of the Economic Pyramid. Delegates received financial literacy on the Fund's products, networking with different shareholders, and explored opportunities for collaboration with County governments.
The Rt. Hon. Raila A. Odinga presided over day two, with his key remarks focusing on empowering county governments, as they're closer to the people.
On the last day, the Deputy President, Prof. Abraham Kithure Kindiki, officially closed the conference. In his remarks, he reaffirmed that the National Government will, in the coming days, reach out to the county governments to initiate greater engagement with the young people. "The youth have asked for transparency and accountability in running the affairs of our Country. Their call is valid and justified". Deputy President exclaimed.
